Star Wars The Force Unleashed - Xbox 360 Review


Star Wars has probably become one of the most successful Sci-Fi franchises ever. And as far as video game franchises go, LucasArts seems to be heading in the right direction. With their latest release Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, we finally get to taste what it's like living on the other side of existence - as the Sith Apprentice of Darth Vader himself, no less.

The beginning segments of the game aren't that great and you'll probably be wondering why you're starting out as Darth Vader when this is a game focused on his apprentice. Well, the apprentice has to come from somewhere and that's why you play as Darth.

As you progress in the game you will immediately begin to enjoy using your Sith powers. The further on you progress in the missions, the more powerful your powers become. You will eventually be able to upgrade everything including force powers, abilities and even your light sabre.

On a visual level the game looks extremely good - detail is exceptional and the various environments you encounter (everything from the junkyard home world of 'Raxus Prime' to the lush and exotic foliage of 'Felucia') are all brilliantly presented. The only thing that really didn't appeal to me was the movement of various characters in cut-scenes. It didn't at all look natural.

The game mechanics however are a different story. Movement in the game is fluid and fast-paced (very much like Prince of Persia or Assassins' Creed) and you'll find yourself hopping and jumping all over the place with ease. Coupled with an extremely well structured control system, anyone could easily master the 'Power of the Dark Side'. Basic movements such as jump (A button), Force Push (B button), Force Lightning (Y button), Attack (X button) and Force Grip (Right trigger) will have you controlling the game after about half an hour.

There's a difficulty level for everyone although I find that action games seem a lot more enjoyable when the challenges are set slightly higher than your own skill level would dictate. The storyline in Star Wars The Force Unleashed is interesting and engaging. The character dialogue is also top-notch with The Apprentice voiced by Battlestar Galactica's Sam Witwer, Juno Eclipse is voiced by Nathalie Cox, Culley Fredricksen is General Kota and Maris Brood voiced by Adrienne Wilkinson.

If you've enjoyed the puzzle-like challenges in games like God of War and the expansive fighting combinations of Soul Calibur, you'll probably find Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is exactly your type of game. With a storyline that's one of the best I've seen in a Star Wars game, you'll be hard pressed to find another game that packs in so much content and variety.

The History of the Game

Of course, part 2 is a sequel to the original Star Wars game which first introduced Starkiller. In the sequel, Starkiller is back and he's on a mission to find his true love, the one and only Juno Eclipse. However, Darth Vader has other plans as he wants to find our hero and turn him into the most powerful Sith warrior ever created. It's an evil plan and one that must be stopped and you get to control the outcome.

New Tricks and Features

Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 wouldn't be a very exciting game without all-new tricks and features available to Starkiller to take advantage of. Therefore, the creators have given you a host of new abilities to take advantage of during your exciting game play. One of the exciting new tricks is the highly deceptive Mind Trick which allows the controller to turn enemies against their allies! Another exciting feature waiting to be unlocked is the Force Rage. This power allows Starkiller to powerfully execute targeted strikes against the enemy.

There are host of other great features and tricks in this game that are just waiting to be discovered. Some of these include new combo attacks, enhanced puzzle-solving gameplay, increased customization, dual wielded light sabers and much more. You will not be disappointed with the new Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 game. In fact, Wii players will be able to experience the ultimate 4-player showdown! The game can be purchased for Nintendo Wii as well as Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360.

Incidentally, my son got this game for Christmas for his Wii and he sais that it's a lot more challenging than the first one and that the graphics are much better. He's quite particular given that he is a huge fan of the movies and cartoon series. This game wasn't a disappointment at all.

Star Wars Force Unleashed II, Live Up to The Hype?


As an avid gamer, I've always heard Star Wars Force Unleashed is an action adventure worth my time to play. I almost bought the Force Unleashed, but decided to check out BioShock first. Then Star Wars the Force Unleashed II, fell into my lap. So I knew I had to take the game home and try it out.

Not knowing much of the story line going into the game, it was quite easy to pick-up and follow what was going on. The graphics in this game in HD are worth the price you are going to pay for it. The game play itself is rather easy; when you first start the game out, pop up screens explain how to do different light saber tricks. The pops also explain when to use different force tricks, and what force tricks work best for certain situations. All the while you are on your journey you find light saber crystals which allow you to play with different light saber setups. Meaning you can use one light saber to heal yourself and one light saber which will give you more experience to get up grades. There are other various crystals you can find out side of the two mentioned above. I was a little disappointed that I did beat the game without completing all the force upgrades. I thought it took a good amount of time to collect 50,000 experience points. I also wasn't sold on the saber crystals, or maybe I just didn't use the best combination of the two.

If you are a fan of action adventure games, this sequel is definitely for you then. This game is jammed full of action, with tremendous moves and light saber attacks at your finger tips. It's pretty easy to figure out how to use all the different light saber attacks combined with using the force for further damaging attacks on your opponents. The game starts as you are a clone of the Jedi Starkiller, whom Darth Vader apparently killed in the first game. You start the game as a test dummy so to speak, with Darth Vader asking you to kill Juno. Your mind is still filled with love for Juno, and you are unable to complete the task. So Darth Vader wants you killed, and then the game starts as you escape from the grasp of Vader and scour the galaxy to try and find Juno.

As you escape Kamino, your journey has just now begun. You're trying to find out the truth about yourself, and Juno. You play through many different levels, playing against a vast majority of different enemies. All he while perfecting the use of the force powers you poss. One of the more challenging levels was the level where you have to defeat the Gorog. At the same time you were being instructed the whole time on how to beat the monster. Which made it a little easier, but the beast was still a challenge. The AT-AT's can be problems if you don't take care of them quickly; I used force fury when I had it available. Apparently the force fury is new to the saga, when activated starkiller becomes almost invincible, with dual light sabers spinning around similar to kratos "swords" in God of War. I also found the force lighting very useful later in the game, which was one item I had fully upgraded which came in very handy.

I will admit I choose the evil ending, to my surprise it was a rather surprising ending. I didn't spoil the ending by looking on line. The Force Unleashed II is a great action/adventure game. Starkiller is one bad ass Jedi, who can destroy just about anyone in the game. The moves and tricks he possesses are awesome, and then you have the killer graphics were definitely well worth the money I spent. The length of the story, and the game mode were rather short, and a little disappointing. I would not recommend spending $60 bucks on this game new, but for around $20 to $25 used you can't go wrong.

Not knowing much of the story line going into the game, it was quite easy to pick-up and follow what was going on. The graphics in this game in HD are worth the price you are going to pay for it. The game play itself is rather easy; when you first start the game out, pop up screens explain how to do different light saber tricks. The pops also explain when to use different force tricks, and what force tricks work best for certain situations. All the while you are on your journey you find light saber crystals which allow you to play with different light saber setups. Meaning you can use one light saber to heal yourself and one light saber which will give you more experience to get up grades. There are other various crystals you can find out side of the two mentioned above. I was a little disappointed that I did beat the game without completing all the force upgrades. I thought it took a good amount of time to collect 50,000 experience points. I also wasn't sold on the saber crystals, or maybe I just didn't use the best combination of the two.

If you are a fan of action adventure games, this sequel is definitely for you then. This game is jammed full of action, with tremendous moves and light saber attacks at your finger tips. It's pretty easy to figure out how to use all the different light saber attacks combined with using the force for further damaging attacks on your opponents. The game starts as you are a clone of the Jedi Starkiller, whom Darth Vader apparently killed in the first game. You start the game as a test dummy so to speak, with Darth Vader asking you to kill Juno. Your mind is still filled with love for Juno, and you are unable to complete the task. So Darth Vader wants you killed, and then the game starts as you escape from the grasp of Vader and scour the galaxy to try and find Juno.

As you escape Kamino, your journey has just now begun. You're trying to find out the truth about yourself, and Juno. You play through many different levels, playing against a vast majority of different enemies. All he while perfecting the use of the force powers you poss. One of the more challenging levels was the level where you have to defeat the Gorog. At the same time you were being instructed the whole time on how to beat the monster. Which made it a little easier, but the beast was still a challenge. The AT-AT's can be problems if you don't take care of them quickly; I used force fury when I had it available. Apparently the force fury is new to the saga, when activated starkiller becomes almost invincible, with dual light sabers spinning around similar to kratos "swords" in God of War. I also found the force lighting very useful later in the game, which was one item I had fully upgraded which came in very handy.

I will admit I choose the evil ending, to my surprise it was a rather surprising ending. I didn't spoil the ending by looking on line. The Force Unleashed II is a great action/adventure game. Starkiller is one bad ass Jedi, who can destroy just about anyone in the game. The moves and tricks he possesses are awesome, and then you have the killer graphics were definitely well worth the money I spent. The length of the story, and the game mode were rather short, and a little disappointing. I would not recommend spending $60 bucks on this game new, but for around $20 to $25 used you can't go wrong.

Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 and Where to Find a Great Deal

This power allows Starkiller to powerfully execute targeted strikes against the enemy.

There are host of other great features and tricks in this game that are just waiting to be discovered. Some of these include new combo attacks, enhanced puzzle-solving gameplay, increased customization, dual wielded light sabers and much more. You will not be disappointed with the new Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 game. In fact, Wii players will be able to experience the ultimate 4-player showdown! The game can be purchased for Nintendo Wii as well as Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360.

Incidentally, my son got this game for Christmas for his Wii and he sais that it's a lot more challenging than the first one and that the graphics are much better. He's quite particular given that he is a huge fan of the movies and cartoon series. This game wasn't a disappointment at all.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed - Xbox 360 Review


Star Wars has probably become one of the most successful Sci-Fi franchises ever. And as far as video game franchises go, LucasArts seems to be heading in the right direction. With their latest release Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, we finally get to taste what it's like living on the other side of existence - as the Sith Apprentice of Darth Vader himself, no less.

The beginning segments of the game aren't that great and you'll probably be wondering why you're starting out as Darth Vader when this is a game focused on his apprentice. Well, the apprentice has to come from somewhere and that's why you play as Darth.

As you progress in the game you will immediately begin to enjoy using your Sith powers. The further on you progress in the missions, the more powerful your powers become. You will eventually be able to upgrade everything including force powers, abilities and even your light sabre.

On a visual level the game looks extremely good - detail is exceptional and the various environments you encounter (everything from the junkyard home world of 'Raxus Prime' to the lush and exotic foliage of 'Felucia') are all brilliantly presented. The only thing that really didn't appeal to me was the movement of various characters in cut-scenes. It didn't at all look natural.

The game mechanics however are a different story. Movement in the game is fluid and fast-paced (very much like Prince of Persia or Assassins' Creed) and you'll find yourself hopping and jumping all over the place with ease. Coupled with an extremely well structured control system, anyone could easily master the 'Power of the Dark Side'. Basic movements such as jump (A button), Force Push (B button), Force Lightning (Y button), Attack (X button) and Force Grip (Right trigger) will have you controlling the game after about half an hour.

There's a difficulty level for everyone although I find that action games seem a lot more enjoyable when the challenges are set slightly higher than your own skill level would dictate. The storyline in Star Wars The Force Unleashed is interesting and engaging. The character dialogue is also top-notch with The Apprentice voiced by Battlestar Galactica's Sam Witwer, Juno Eclipse is voiced by Nathalie Cox, Culley Fredricksen is General Kota and Maris Brood voiced by Adrienne Wilkinson.

If you've enjoyed the puzzle-like challenges in games like God of War and the expansive fighting combinations of Soul Calibur, you'll probably find Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is exactly your type of game. With a storyline that's one of the best I've seen in a Star Wars game, you'll be hard pressed to find another game that packs in so much content and variety.

Star Wars Force Unleashed II, Live Up to The Hype?


As an avid gamer, I've always heard Star Wars Force Unleashed is an action adventure worth my time to play. I almost bought the Force Unleashed, but decided to check out BioShock first. Then Star Wars the Force Unleashed II, fell into my lap. So I knew I had to take the game home and try it out.
